MSC Grandiosa is a cruise ship operated by MSC Cruises and the first of the Meraviglia-Plus class, an enlarged development of the Meraviglia design. Delivered by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire, France, in October 2019, she measures about 181,500 gross tons and 331 metres, with 2,421 staterooms across 19 decks.
Her centrepiece is the Galleria Grandiosa, an indoor promenade covered by an LED dome roughly 98 metres long, the longest afloat at her debut, beneath which sit bars, shops and dining venues. The ship also carries a two-deck theatre presenting Cirque du Soleil at Sea productions in a dedicated lounge, an expanded MSC Yacht Club, a large spa and an aft aqua park.
Grandiosa was named in Hamburg in November 2019, a ceremony reflecting the strength of MSC's German source market, with Sophia Loren as godmother.
The ship holds a notable place in recent cruise history: in August 2020 she became the first major cruise ship to resume passenger service in the Mediterranean after the industry-wide shutdown, sailing from Genoa with reduced capacity, testing at embarkation, and protected shore excursions. The protocols developed aboard her were later adopted across the fleet and studied widely across the industry.
She has since operated mainly in the Mediterranean during the summer and in Northern Europe or the Mediterranean in winter, alongside her sister MSC Virtuosa.
