Cabin 14223 · Carnival Encounter

Cabin 14223 is a Balcony (category 8D1) on Carnival Encounter, 168 to 205 square feet plus a private balcony of 35 to 46 square feet.

Cabin 14223 is a Balcony on Deck 14 of Carnival Encounter, far forward. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. Out at this end you feel the sea. In rough water the movement here is noticeably stronger. Right up in the bow, a head sea can send a shudder through the hull that midship guests never feel at all. We score it 5 out of 10 for steadiness.

On the ship's plan Salon Beauty is on the deck above, about 1 cabin along from you. A deck between you takes most of the noise out of it, and it is a short trip when you want it. Quiet comes out at 8 out of 10, roughly par for this ship. For getting about it is 4 out of 10, so add a few minutes to everywhere you go.

Counting from the bow, it is the 9th cabin position of 35 along Deck 14.

A Balcony gives you 168-205 square feet. The balcony adds another 35-46 on top of that. A balcony buys you outside space of your own and, on sea days, somewhere to sit that is not the pool deck. It is the step up most people make, and the one they find hardest to give up again.

Against the rest of the ship it is noisier than three quarters of the 1,295 cabins on board. It suits light sleepers. It is a poor fit for anyone who finds long corridors and stairs hard work.
