Cabin 17040 · Legend of the Seas
Deck 18 · Royal Caribbean International
Cabin 17040 is an Icon Loft Suite on Legend of the Seas. There is a double sofa bed.
Cabin 17040 is an Icon Loft Suite on Deck 18 of Legend of the Seas. You are forward of midship. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. You will feel a bit more motion than a midship cabin. Nothing dramatic. We score it 6 out of 10 for steadiness.
It is 6 cabins along the corridor to the aft lift bank. Close enough to be useful, far enough that it should not keep you awake. The aft lift and stair lobby on deck 18. Legend uses destination control: you choose your deck at the panel outside and it tells you which car to take, so there are no buttons inside the cars. The lobby is also the main stair landing for this end of the ship. Worth knowing: destination control panels are outside the lift, not inside it. Cabins immediately beside a lobby hear doors and voices at every hour, and the lobbies are busiest just after a show finishes. Quiet comes out at 6 out of 10, roughly par for this ship. For getting about, 7 out of 10.
Counting from the bow, it is the 4th cabin position of 8 along Deck 18. You are about as central as the corridor gets, so it is a similar walk whichever way you turn out of your door. Deck 18 also has Grove Suite Sun Deck, Grove and Whirlpool on it. There are 8 cabins along this deck, so the corridor is short and rarely busy.
It is booked as an Icon Loft Suite. At suite level you are buying more than square feet. Suites almost always carry priority boarding and priority disembarkation, and the higher grades on most lines add a restaurant, a lounge or a sun deck of their own. Junior and entry level suites often get none of that, so it is worth checking what this particular grade includes rather than assuming the whole list comes with the word.
There is a loyalty argument for this room as well as a comfort one. Crown and Anchor counts a suite night as two cruise points against one for a standard room, so the same week aboard moves you up the tiers twice as fast. Book it solo at the double occupancy fare and it counts three a night. Checked against the line's own published terms on 8 September 2026.
Against the rest of the ship it is better placed for getting around than 80 per cent of them. It is a poor fit for anyone who wakes when a door closes.
