Cabin 1862 is a Spacious Panoramic Ocean View (category 1L) on Independence of the Seas, 188 square feet, with a floor to ceiling panoramic window. Two twin beds convert to a Royal King. There is a double sofa bed. It sleeps up to 3. The bathroom has a shower.

Cabin 1862 is a Spacious Panoramic Ocean View on Deck 12 of Independence of the Seas. You are far forward. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. This is a long way from the pivot, so a swell reaches you before it reaches anyone midship. Right up in the bow, a head sea can send a shudder through the hull that midship guests never feel at all. We score it 3 out of 10 for steadiness. If you are at all prone to seasickness, look elsewhere.

Spa and Fitness Center is immediately nearby, about 2 cabins away. Handy, though worth knowing about if you sleep lightly. Vitality at Sea, split across decks 11 and 12 forward. Treatment rooms, salon, thermal suite, sauna and steam and a mud room on one side, and a gym with cardio, weights, a spin area and a class studio on the other. Worth knowing: the gym is free, treatments and classes are not. It opens around six in the morning, and treadmills overhead are the usual complaint from the forward cabins directly below on deck 10. Quiet scores 5 out of 10. There is enough going on nearby that a light sleeper should think about it. For getting about, 8 out of 10.

Of the 32 cabin positions on Deck 12, this is the 12th from forward. You are about as central as the corridor gets, so it is a similar walk whichever way you turn out of your door. You share Deck 12 with Spa and Fitness Center, Sky Lounge, Running Track and Movie Screen. There are 44 cabins along this deck, so the corridor is short and rarely busy.

The Spacious Panoramic Ocean View grade runs 188 square feet. You get daylight and a sense of where you are without paying balcony money. The window does not open, so it is the view but not the air.

On loyalty, this is a standard grade, so Crown and Anchor credits its base one cruise point a night. There are exactly two ways to double that: move up to a suite, or sail on your own on a double occupancy fare. Either pays two a night, and doing both pays three. Checked against the line's own published terms on 8 September 2026.

Against the rest of the ship it is livelier in a swell than most of them. It suits families running back to the cabin several times a day. It is a poor fit for anyone who wakes when a door closes and anyone who feels motion badly.

Scored by Cruise Ship Wiki using model v1.8, from the position of this cabin relative to every public space on the ship. Each part is out of 10.
