Cabin 1898 is a Spacious Ocean View (category 3M/4M) on Freedom of the Seas, 211 square feet, with a half-moon ocean view window. Two twin beds convert to a Royal King. There is a double sofa bed. It sleeps up to 3. The bathroom has a shower.

Cabin 1898 is a Spacious Ocean View on Deck 12 of Freedom of the Seas, and it sits well aft. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. You are well out towards the end of the hull, which is where pitching is felt hardest. This far aft you may also pick up a hum from the propellers, usually at night when the ship is making speed between ports. Some people never notice it, others find it soothing, a few cannot ignore it. We score it 4 out of 10 for steadiness.

You are 3 cabins from Arcade. Close enough to be useful, far enough that it should not keep you awake. Challenger's Arcade, between Adventure Ocean and Johnny Rockets. Video cabinets, older classics and foosball, charged per game to your SeaPass. Separate from the second arcade inside Playmakers down on deck 4. Worth knowing: a steady electronic drone rather than bursts: attract loops, racing cabinets and buttons, from mid morning until late. Quiet scores 3 out of 10. There is enough going on nearby that a light sleeper should think about it. For getting about it scores 9 out of 10, so almost everything is a short walk.

Of the 33 cabin positions on Deck 12, this is the 31st from forward. That puts you right at the aft end of the run, where the corridor stops and the footfall dies away. You share Deck 12 with Lime and Coconut, Arcade, Adventure Ocean and Nursery. There are 50 cabins along this deck, so the corridor is short and rarely busy.

The Spacious Ocean View grade runs 211 square feet. You get daylight and a sense of where you are without paying balcony money. The window does not open, so it is the view but not the air.

On loyalty, this is a standard grade, so Crown and Anchor credits its base one cruise point a night. There are exactly two ways to double that: move up to a suite, or sail on your own on a double occupancy fare. Either pays two a night, and doing both pays three. Checked against the line's own published terms on 8 September 2026.

Against the rest of the ship it is noisier than three quarters of the 1,963 cabins on board, livelier in a swell than most of them and better placed for getting around than 96 per cent of them. It suits families running back to the cabin several times a day. It is a poor fit for anyone who wakes when a door closes and anyone who feels motion badly.

Scored by Cruise Ship Wiki using model v1.8, from the position of this cabin relative to every public space on the ship. Each part is out of 10.
