Cabin 8172 is an Ocean View Balcony on Utopia of the Seas, 182 to 198 square feet plus a private balcony of 42 to 55 square feet.

Cabin 8172 is an Ocean View Balcony on Deck 8 of Utopia of the Seas, forward of midship. There is some movement here, more than midship and a good deal less than the ends. Most people never think about it. We score it 7 out of 10 for steadiness.

It is 3 cabins along the corridor to the forward lift bank. Close enough to be useful, far enough that it should not keep you awake. Utopia of the Seas letters two lift banks on each deck, one forward and one aft, each a glass fronted lobby serving both sides of the ship. The forward bank reaches the theatre and the suite decks, the aft bank the dining rooms, the Boardwalk and the pool deck above. Worth knowing: the cars themselves are quiet. The lobby is not. What a cabin beside a lift bank actually hears is people waiting, talking and calling to each other, and it peaks at dinner sittings and again after the late show. Two or three cabins along the corridor is. We give it 10 out of 10 for quiet, which is about as peaceful as this ship gets. For getting about it is 3 out of 10, so add a few minutes to everywhere you go.

Counting from the bow, it is the 69th cabin position of 195 along Deck 8. Deck 8 also has 150 Central Park, Izumi, Chops Grille and Park Cafe on it. There are 324 cabins along this deck, so the corridor is a long walk end to end.

An Ocean View Balcony gives you 182-198 square feet. The balcony adds another 42-55 on top of that. A balcony buys you outside space of your own and, on sea days, somewhere to sit that is not the pool deck. It is the step up most people make, and the one they find hardest to give up again.

On loyalty, this is a standard grade, so Crown and Anchor credits its base one cruise point a night. There are exactly two ways to double that: move up to a suite, or sail on your own on a double occupancy fare. Either pays two a night, and doing both pays three. Checked against the line's own published terms on 8 September 2026.

Against the rest of the ship it is as quiet as anything on board. It suits light sleepers. It is a poor fit for anyone who finds long corridors and stairs hard work.
