Cabin 8399 · Carnival Luminosa

Cabin 8399 is a Balcony on Carnival Luminosa, 185 to 237 square feet.

Cabin 8399 is a Balcony on Deck 8 of Carnival Luminosa, well aft. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. This is a long way from the pivot, so a swell reaches you before it reaches anyone midship. This far aft you may also pick up a hum from the propellers, usually at night when the ship is making speed between ports. Some people never notice it, others find it soothing, a few cannot ignore it. We score it 5 out of 10 for steadiness.

You are all but on top of a stairwell, about 0 cabins away. Nothing on board is a shorter walk. The price is footsteps past your door and the lift chiming at odd hours. Quiet comes out at 8 out of 10, roughly par for this ship. For getting about, 8 out of 10.

Counting from the bow, it is the 160th cabin position of 161 along Deck 8. That puts you right at the aft end of the run, where the corridor stops and the footfall dies away. Deck 8 also has Pool on it. There are 187 cabins along this deck, so the corridor is a fairly ordinary length.

A Balcony gives you 185-237 square feet. A balcony buys you outside space of your own and, on sea days, somewhere to sit that is not the pool deck. It is the step up most people make, and the one they find hardest to give up again.

Against the rest of the ship it is noisier than three quarters of the 1,101 cabins on board, livelier in a swell than most of them and better placed for getting around than 94 per cent of them. It suits light sleepers and families running back to the cabin several times a day.
