Mykonos is a cosmopolitan and popular tourist destination in the Cyclades known for its picturesque whitewashed architecture, vibrant nightlife, and beaches. It is one of the most visited islands in the Aegean and tends to be extremely crowded in July and August.

Getting around

From the cruise port at Tourlos, take the SeaBus (€2, 12 minutes) or cruise shuttle bus to Mykonos Town, or walk in about 45 minutes along the main road.

Mykonos Town has many stylish restaurants and cafes; Ano Mera village features Greek tavernas around its central square.

Tips

Visit in May-June or September-October to avoid July-August crowds and high prices; book ferry tickets in advance around August 15 and Pentecost.
