Cruise Ship Wiki aims to be an accurate, well-sourced reference on the world's cruise ships. This page explains where our information comes from and how we handle it.

Original writing, not copied text

Every ship description on this site is an original write-up. We read widely about each ship and then write our own account in our own words. We do not copy or quote text from other websites or encyclopedias. Where a fact comes from an external source, that source is credited on the ship's page under References & sources, and we build out those citations over time.

Where our facts come from

Ship facts and figures are compiled and cross-checked from public sources, including manufacturer and cruise-line material, shipbuilder records, maritime registries, reputable cruise-industry references such as CruiseMapper, and publicly available encyclopedic sources such as Wikipedia. Specifications can vary slightly between sources (for example, moulded versus extreme beam, or double-occupancy versus maximum guest counts), and we note such distinctions where they matter.

Photographs

Ship photographs are drawn from Wikimedia Commons under free licences (public domain, CC0, CC BY, or CC BY-SA). Each photo is credited to its photographer with its licence on the relevant ship page, and we host our own copy so links can't break. Member-contributed photographs (for example, cabin and interior shots) are credited to the contributing account holder and shared under the permissions granted in our Terms of Service.

Estimates

Some figures are clearly labelled estimates. For example, "estimated annual guests" is not a reported number - cruise lines rarely publish per-ship passenger counts - but a transparent calculation from a ship's lower-berth capacity, a typical occupancy factor, and an approximate number of voyages per year. The basis of each estimate is shown on the ship's page. Estimates are offered as useful approximations, not precise official statistics.

Corrections

Found something wrong or out of date? Corrections are welcome. Ship data is curated by approved editors, and as the community features roll out you'll be able to register, suggest corrections, and apply to become an editor.
