Celebrity Mercury was the third and final ship of Celebrity Cruises' Century class, built by Meyer Werft at Papenburg, Germany, in 1997 and originally named simply Mercury. Like her two sisters she carried roughly 1,800 guests and offered the polished, food-focused premium experience for which Celebrity was known in that era, rounding out a trio of German-built ships that anchored the line's fleet through the late 1990s and 2000s.
Mercury's post-Celebrity career unfolded almost entirely within Germany's TUI Group. In 2011 she was transferred to TUI and entered service as Mein Schiff 2, one of the vessels that built up the company's Mein Schiff brand for the German-speaking market. She later sailed under the name Mein Schiff Herz as TUI reshuffled and renamed its growing fleet.
In 2023 she moved again within the TUI family, joining the British-focused Marella Cruises brand and taking the name Marella Voyager. The successive renamings traced the expansion and reorganization of TUI's cruise operations over more than a decade.
Each renaming reflected a step in TUI's reshaping of its cruise portfolio, first building the German-market Mein Schiff brand and later feeding older tonnage into its British Marella line. Celebrity Mercury no longer sails for Celebrity Cruises. Registered during her Celebrity years at Valletta, Malta, she currently operates Mediterranean and Caribbean itineraries as Marella Voyager, remaining in active service nearly three decades after her launch, a testament to the durability of her German construction and to the enduring appeal of the Century class.
