Cabin 1102 · Carnival Splendor

Cabin 1102 is a Cloud 9 Spa Balcony (category 8S1) on Carnival Splendor, 185 to 205 square feet plus a private balcony of 35 to 44 square feet.

Cabin 1102 is a Cloud 9 Spa Balcony on Deck 11, the Spa deck, of Carnival Splendor, and it sits forward of midship. You are at the top of the passenger decks, so the pools and the open air are just up the stairs, and you feel the ship move more than anyone below you. There is some movement here, more than midship and a good deal less than the ends. Most people never think about it. We score it 6 out of 10 for steadiness.

On the ship's plan Serenity is on the deck above, about 3 cabins along from you. A deck between you takes most of the noise out of it, and it is a short trip when you want it. Quiet comes out at 8 out of 10, roughly par for this ship. For getting about it is 4 out of 10, so add a few minutes to everywhere you go.

Counting from the bow, it is the 1st cabin position of 8 along Deck 11. That puts you right at the forward end of the run, where the corridor stops and the footfall dies away.

A Cloud 9 Spa Balcony gives you 185-205 square feet. The balcony adds another 35-44 on top of that. A balcony buys you outside space of your own and, on sea days, somewhere to sit that is not the pool deck. It is the step up most people make, and the one they find hardest to give up again.

Against the rest of the ship it is noisier than three quarters of the 1,508 cabins on board and better placed for getting around than 90 per cent of them. It suits light sleepers. It is a poor fit for anyone who finds long corridors and stairs hard work.
