Editorial Cruise Ship Wiki's take on Silver Endeavour
Silver Endeavour is the strongest hull in Silversea's expedition fleet. MV Werften at Stralsund completed it in June 2021 as Crystal Endeavor, a 20,449 gross ton ship for 200 guests ordered by Crystal Cruises. When parent company Genting Hong Kong collapsed in January 2022, the ship was laid up under arrest and sold at judicial auction in Gibraltar. Royal Caribbean Group bought it in July 2022 for 275 million dollars, reported as significantly below construction cost, renamed it Silver Endeavour and began Silversea service that November after christening it in Antarctica. The defining fact is the Polar Class PC6 hull, reported as the largest ice class expedition yacht afloat and rare at this level in the passenger trade.
Dining runs across The Restaurant, the French La Dame at a 60 dollars per person surcharge, Il Terrazzino, the glass walled Grill and the Arts Cafe. The Observation Lounge on Deck 9 carries 270 degree views, the Explorer Lounge hosts lectures livestreamed to suites, and there is an Otium Spa, a Science Room, a mud room on Deck 2 and a bow hot tub on Deck 6. Current kit is 18 Zodiacs, 14 kayaks and a remotely operated vehicle rated to roughly 2,000 feet. The manned submersible and two helicopters of the Crystal specification are not carried: Silversea removed the helicopter bay and built suites in the space, so any equipment list dated 2021 is stale.
Member reviews on Cruise Critic average 3.6 out of 5 from 15 posts, and the spread is polarised: eight excellent and two very good against one poor and four terrible, with nothing in the middle and no numeric editor score published. Voyages cut short or reworked for weather draw the harshest write ups. Food is called inconsistent against the fare, with two or three choices per course. The mud room congests at peak, and nightlife amounts to a pianist, quizzes and dancing. Fares starting near 12,000 dollars per person set the standard reviewers measure against.
The ship suits travellers who want polar access with hotel standards intact, and the fly cruise to King George Island removes the Drake Passage and about four days. It does not suit families, having no children's facilities, nor anyone wanting sea day programming, theatre or a casino.
**What this means for choosing a cabin.** All 100 rooms are suites with balconies and butler service, with no inside cabins. The 90 Veranda Suites measure 304 square feet and are graded Classic, Superior, Deluxe and Premium by position rather than size, which makes deck and location the whole decision. Eight Silver Suites sit on Deck 8. The Owner's Suite and Grand Suite take Deck 7 forward at 1,868 and 1,668 square feet, where pitching is felt most on an open crossing, under public decks above. Midship and lower Veranda Suites are steadier in polar water, though closer to mud room traffic on Deck 2.

Silver Endeavour is Silversea's flagship polar expedition ship, a vessel with an unusually dramatic origin story. She was built in Germany, with work carried out at Lloyd Werft and the MV Werften group, and completed in 2021 as Crystal Endeavor, the ambitious expedition flagship of the now-defunct Crystal Cruises. When Crystal's parent company collapsed into insolvency in 2022, the nearly new ship was sold, and Silversea acquired her, renaming her Silver Endeavour and quickly deploying her as the crown jewel of its growing expedition fleet.
The ship was engineered for serious polar work. Ice-strengthened to Polar Class 6, she can push into the icy waters of Antarctica and the Arctic that lie beyond the reach of conventional cruise ships, and she carries advanced expedition equipment including a large fleet of Zodiacs and other exploration craft. She accommodates only about 200 guests but pairs them with an exceptionally high complement of crew and expedition staff, delivering both a luxurious experience and expert-led exploration in some of the planet's most remote regions.
Despite her rugged capability, Silver Endeavour retains the ultra-luxury all-suite character of the Silversea brand, with spacious, butler-serviced suites and refined public spaces that make her one of the most opulent expedition ships in the world. She was christened by Felicity Aston, the British polar explorer and scientist known for being the first woman to ski alone across Antarctica, a godmother whose credentials perfectly matched the ship's mission.
Registered in Nassau, Bahamas, Silver Endeavour sails ultra-luxury expedition voyages to Antarctica and the Arctic. She remains in active service as Silversea's polar flagship, a ship whose second life under a new name gave the line a world-class capability at the extreme ends of the earth.
