Silver Nova

Silver Nova entered service in July 2023 as lead ship of Silversea's Nova class, built by Meyer Werft at 54,700 gross tons and carrying 728 guests in 364 suites with 556 crew across nine decks. The defining decision is structural, not decorative: the architects offset the engine casing to one side, producing a deliberately asymmetrical ship. The effect is wider uninterrupted sea views from open decks and public rooms.

Two spaces carry it. The main pool on Deck 10 is pushed off centre to starboard, and The Cliff, an infinity style whirlpool on Deck 11, sits behind ocean facing glass. Dusk Bar takes the Deck 10 aft. Dining spreads wide across Atlantide and S.A.L.T. Kitchen on Deck 3, La Terrazza, Kaiseki and La Dame on Deck 4, Silver Note on Deck 5, and The Marquee on Deck 10 with The Grill, Spaccanapoli and the S.A.L.T. Chef's Table. Below sits a hybrid plant of LNG engines, a four megawatt fuel cell and batteries, credited with roughly a 40 percent emissions cut and with working a port call free of engine emissions.

Praise is not universal. Cruise Critic carries a 5.0 out of 5.0 editor rating, yet its 65 member reviews split sharply, 11 of them rated poor or terrible. Food draws the most consistent criticism, called ordinary with menus that repeat. Layout complaints are the flip side of the asymmetry: The Grill is weather dependent and sits nowhere near the buffet, and the elevator arrangement is called awkward. Value is questioned against fares starting near 3,564 dollars per person.

Fare structure shapes that judgement. The door to door fare bundles flights, hotel nights and private transfers on top of dining, drinks, butler service, wifi, gratuities and a shore excursion per port; a port to port fare covers the voyage alone. It suits well travelled, affluent guests wanting a small vessel with large ship outdoor space. It does not suit families with children, anyone wanting production entertainment, or those who prefer booking their own flights. For 2026 it is scheduled in the Mediterranean from Piraeus, then Rome, a December transatlantic and a Caribbean winter.

**What this means for choosing a cabin.** Every suite has a balcony and a butler, so the choice is view, outdoor space and position, not category. Entry level Veranda Suites run 304 square feet with a 53 square foot balcony; Medallion Suites at 441 square feet add a separable bedroom. The two Otium Suites, 893 square feet with a 431 square foot balcony and private hot tub, take the starboard aft corner on Decks 6 and 7, where the asymmetry yields a near 270 degree view. The eight aft facing Premium Veranda Suites are the value pick, though adjacent outdoor stairs cost those balconies privacy. Position vertically too: Deck 5 holds Silver Note, the Dolce Vita bar, casino and gym, so Deck 6 sits over late noise, and top suites sit under the Deck 10 pool and jogging track.
