Silver Shadow

Silver Shadow is the lead ship of Silversea's Shadow class, an ultra-luxury vessel that entered service in 2000 and helped define the intimate, refined character for which the line became known. Built by T. Mariotti in Genoa, Italy, the roughly 28,250-gross-ton ship was larger than Silversea's original pair yet still carries only about 382 guests, a restraint that translated into unusually spacious suites and expansive public rooms relative to the number of people aboard.

The Shadow class was conceived to offer more space and more amenities than the founding Silver Cloud and Silver Wind while preserving the small-ship, all-suite formula that set Silversea apart from larger luxury rivals. Silver Shadow's suites, among the roomiest in her size class, and her classic, understated interiors earned her a devoted following, and she became a mainstay of the line's world cruises and long-haul luxury voyages.

Every accommodation aboard is a butler-serviced suite, the majority with a private veranda, in keeping with the brand's all-suite promise. The ship was christened with Janet Burke serving as godmother.

Registered in Nassau, Bahamas, Silver Shadow sails global luxury itineraries and has ranged widely across the world's oceans, with recent seasons in the Mediterranean. She marked a quarter-century of service in 2025, a testament to the enduring appeal of her design, and she remains in active operation as one of the classic ships that carry forward the traditional Silversea ambience.
